【摘要】:Thistestmethoddescribessimplelaboratorymethodsthatprovidereproduceablemeasurementsofcriticalmediaproperties,andpermitdirectcomparisonstobemadebetweendifferentmediamaterials.Thedensityofmixedmediamaterialswillvarydependingonthedegreetowhichtheyaresubjectedtocompactionandthelengthoftimethatthematerialisallowedtohydrateandsubsequentlydrain.Mostgreenroofmediamaterialshavealargecapacitytoabsorbandretainmoisture.Furthermore,moisturewilldraingraduallyfromthemediafollowingahydrationcycle.Themaximummediadensitymeasuredinthisprocedureapproachesthedensityatthetheoreticalsaturationpoint.Existingmethodsformeasuringthecapillary-moisturerelationshipforsoils(TestMethodD2325)relyonsamplepreparationprocedures(TestMethodsD698)thatarenotconsistentwiththeconditionsassociatedwiththeplacementofgreenroofmediamaterials.Thisprocedureisintendedtoprovideareproduciblelaboratoryprocedureforpredictingthemaximummediadensity,moisturecontent,andwaterpermeabilityunderconditionsthatmorecloselyreplicatefieldconditionsongreenroofs.Thevalueofthistestmethodtothegreenroofdesigneristhatitprovidesanobjectivemeasureofmaximumprobablemediadensity(underdrainedconditions)forestimatingstructuralloads.Italsoprovidesamethodforestimatingthelowerlimitforthewaterpermeabilityofthein-placemedia.Thislattervalueisimportantwhenconsideringdrainageconditionsingreenroofs.Finally,themaximummediawaterretentionhasbeenshowntobeausefulindicatorofthemoistureretentionpropertiesofgreenroofmedia.1.1Thistestmethodcoversaprocedurefordeterminingthemaximummediadensityforpurposesofestimatingthemaximumdeadloadforgreenroofassemblies.Themethodalsoprovidesameasureofthemoisturecontentandthewaterpermeabilitymeasuredatthemaximummediadensity.1.2Thisprocedureissuitableforgreenroofmediathatcontainnomorethan30%organicmaterialasmeasuredusingthelossonignitionprocedureTestMethodsF1647,MethodA.1.3Themaximummediadensityandassociatedmoisturecontentmeasuredinthisprocedureappliestodrainedconditionsnearthesaturationpoint.1.4Thetestmethodisintendedtoemulateverticalpercolationratesforwateringreenroofs.1.5Thevaluesstatedininch-poundunitsaretoberegardedasstandard.ThevaluesgiveninparenthesesaremathematicalconversionstoSIunitsthatareprovidedforinformationonlyandarenotconsideredstandard.1.6Thisstandarddoesnotpurporttoaddressallofthesafetyconcerns,ifany,associatedwithitsuse.Itistheresponsibilityoftheuserofthisstandardtoestablishappropriatesafetyandhealthpracticesandtodeterminetheapplicabilityofregulatorylimitationspriortouse.
